Frequently Asked Questions

You probably still have dozens of questions about us and our services. We’ve done our best to answer a lot of them below:

  • What do you cover in the free 1 hour consultation?
  • During the free consultation, we will ask each other questions about our expectations and your needs.

  • Will you travel?
  • Yes.

  • Can we have our meeting over Skype? What about Go-To-Meeting?
  • Yes! While we prefer an in-office sit down, we are able to have a meeting over Skype if we can’t make other arrangements.

  • I don’t live in either MD, VA or DC… can you help?
  • Yes if you’re willing to use Quickbooks Online. We’ve helped web-based clients develop and maintain their accounting system and if you have a web-based business we can help you too.

  • Do I have to pay a retainer?
  • Not usually as it depends on the work. Representation clients yes but tax/bookkeeping not necessary. For large jobs, we may require that the client pay a retainer for one reason: Skin in the game. When potential clients contact us to do work we don’t really know them very well. Are you who you say you are? How do we know if you’ll pay us after we perform the work for you? For this reason we request a small retainer for bookkeeping services and larger retainer for more advanced tax preparation and representation.

  • What payment methods do you take?
  • Check and E-check are our favorite, as they result in lower processing fees than credit cards. We’ll take credit cards and debit cards via the Intuit Payment Network too.

  • I currently don’t have QuickBooks or any other software, can you help?
  • Yes! We are QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisors for QuickBooks Enterprise, QuickBooks POS, QuickBooks Online, and QuickBooks Desktop 2013-2016. We will take your documents and build an accounting system to fit your needs. In fact, you don’t even need to purchase the desktop software if you don’t want to. We can host all documents on our secure workstations.

  • I use Excel spreadsheets to maintain my accounting records, what are the benefits to using QuickBooks?
  • Excel is a great program, isn’t it? It has so much power yet many small business owners don’t realize that not using an accounting software can actually hurt their business in the long run. QuickBooks allows you access to dozens of reports and other metrics and makes tax time a breeze.

If you have no experience with accounting software of any kind then that is OK too. We’re here to help and we are more than willing to set up your system, maintain your monthly books and send you the most valuable reports every month. Want us to help with training? We can do that to.

  • What QuickBooks program is best for me?
  • We use both QuickBooks Online and the desktop version quite a bit. In the end both software have their positives and negatives and we’ll go over this with you during our initial consultation.

As we think of more questions we’ll update this page, but if there is another question you have then please don’t hesitate to contact us!
